Website Design Specifications
As of August 2005 all websites designed by Pearson Treehouse
either directly or through reselling partners have the following
specifications.
Basic Coding - Designed in HTML and CSS - conforming to the
XHTML 1.0 transitional standard as specified by the World
Wide Web Consortium (www.w3c.org)

Advanced Coding - Advanced coding for databases and server
side information coded in PHP. Databases coded in MySQL. Javascript
interactivity coded into pages where required.
Software - All software used on sites is fully tested. Where
possible software used is off the shelf Open Source software.
Graphics - Graphics optimised in Gif / Jpeg format according
to needs. Animation where required is delivered as animated
Gif, or Flash.
Navigation - all navigation items provided in at least two
(on / off) states to make their presence apparent to visitors.
Resolution - Sites designed in both liquid and static formats,
optimised for a minimum of 800 pixels X 600pixels.
Site testing - Sites tested in Internet Explorer, Mozilla
FireFox, Opera and Netscape Navigator.
